Cabinet has approved the appointment of members of the Governing Board of the National Building Review Board (NBRB).
The approval was made during the 2nd Cabinet Meeting of 2026, held on Monday, July 6, 2026, at State House, Entebbe. The decision was announced in a statement released by ICT and National Guidance Minister, Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba.
The Governing Board is constituted under the Building Control Act, which mandates the NBRB to regulate all building control activities in Uganda.
Members of the Board will provide strategic direction, governance, oversight, and accountability of the building sector for a period of 3 years.
Former KCCA Executive Director Eng. Andrew Kitaka takes on the role of Chairperson. He replaces Mr Emmanuel Male, who served as Board Chairman from November 2021.
The other appointed members are:
• RSU Irene Kitara – Member
• Arch. Henry Kiggundu – Member
• PP Irene Achola – Member
• Mr Benon Yiga – Member
• Eng. Chris Opuch – Member
• Mr Richard Adrole – Member
• Eng. Betty Nabbosa – Member
The nine positions are drawn from the Ministry of Works and Transport, the Ministry responsible for Gender, the Ministry responsible for Lands, one representative of the Ministry for Local Government, the Attorney General’s Chambers and representatives of engineers, architects, physical planners and surveyors.
