The Unit is headed by a Senior Policy and Planning Officer. The Unit is tasked with providing budgeting and planning support services. Specifically, the Unit is mandated to:

1. Develop and review strategic plans for the NBRB;
2. Advise on expenditure allocations in line with the budget ceilings provided by the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development, in consultation with the other Directorates;
3. Review budgeting policies issued by the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development, to implement the Board budget;
4. Analyse budget performance;
5. Prepare quarterly and annual performance reports;
6. Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the strategic plan; and
7. Prepare project proposals to implement innovations by the Board.
